Welcome to Skin & Care

Skin & Care is a small, independent website about the everyday side of looking after yourself: skin care, common skin concerns, hair care and practical beauty tips. Our tagline sums it up — skin care, hair care and beauty — but what we really try to do is simpler than that. We take topics that are usually buried in marketing claims or confusing ingredient lists and explain them in plain, honest language that a real person can use.

If you have ever stood in front of a shelf of serums wondering which one you actually need, or searched the internet at midnight about a breakout, a dark patch or hair coming out in the shower, this site was made with you in mind.

What we cover

Our articles are organised around four areas:

  • Skin Care — building a routine, understanding ingredients such as retinol, and choosing basics like cleansers, moisturisers and sunscreen without overspending.
  • Skin Concerns — common, everyday concerns such as acne and breakouts, dark spots and uneven tone, explained calmly: what tends to cause them, what can genuinely help, and what is mostly hype.
  • Hair Care — shedding and thinning, scalp care, breakage, and the habits that support healthier hair over time.
  • Beauty Tips — the practical side of beauty, from using sunscreen properly to getting more from products you already own.

How our content is researched and written

Skincare advice online ranges from excellent to actively harmful, so we are careful about where our information comes from. Articles on Skin & Care are researched against reputable dermatology and health sources — professional dermatology associations, established medical centres and public health guidance — rather than social media trends or product marketing.

We write in a measured way on purpose. Where the evidence for an ingredient or habit is good, we say so. Where it is mixed or mostly anecdotal, we say that too. We avoid miracle language: no product erases wrinkles overnight, no shampoo regrows hair in a fortnight, and any article here that sounds too good to be true is one we would rather rewrite.

Guidance in this field changes as research develops, and products change too. When reliable guidance shifts, or when a reader points out something we could explain better, we review and update our articles so the site stays accurate and useful.

Who this site is for

Skin & Care is for beginners building their first routine, for people dealing with a stubborn concern who want to understand it before spending money, and for anyone who prefers straight answers to sponsored enthusiasm. Our readers have different skin types, skin tones, hair types, ages and budgets, so we try to write inclusively — advice that only works for one kind of skin or one kind of hair is not much use to anyone else.

An important note about medical advice

Everything on this site is general information for education and everyday decision-making. It is not medical advice, and reading an article here does not create any kind of professional relationship. Skin and hair problems sometimes have medical causes that need proper examination, testing and treatment.

If you have a concern that is severe, persistent, painful, rapidly changing, or simply worrying you, please see a dermatologist or your doctor rather than relying on a website — including this one. Our Medical Disclaimer explains this in more detail.
